Very bright light. IR & Laser is low poered. With brand new energizer batteries, the laser is barely visible at 10 meters. Looks and feels rugged enough for household use, but I doubt that it will survive a campout. Overall, it is a good value. (ps: use liquid black tape or gasket sealer to seat the unit. Mine was rocking loosely even though it was torqued down. )
